The Kokkalis Foundation was one of the sponsors of this year's ECOCINEMA International Film Festival, held in Athens on May 11-17, 2006. The festival featured a selection of recent productions portraying the state of the world and the vital issues of concern to mankind in the early 21st century –the environment, globalization, societies in crisis, war - but also describing the solutions found by people, communities, and movements across the globe. The films featured at the festival competed for a money prize, which was won by Nikolaus Geyrhalter's “Our Daily Bread” (Austria 2005), a science fiction film which addresses the issue of food security.
