New 2009 Kokkalis Fellows at Bilgi University

The Kokkalis Foundation supports Greek-Turkish studies at Istanbul Bilgi University by offering scholarships and fellowships to Greek citizens pursuing the Master degree in International Relations with a concentration on Greek-Turkish relations at the University.

This year’s fellowship recipients are the following:

 

Orestis Adam – Orestis holds a Bachelors Degree in Politics & International Relations from the University of Kent at Canterbury, U.K.. He has completed several internships, including at the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs and has been engaged in volunteer work in reforestation projects and offering teaching support for grammar school students. Orestis holds two Track & Field medals and is a member of the Oion Athletics Association. 

Eirini Kechrioti – Eirini holds a BSc in Economics from the Department of Economics of the University of Athens, and a degree in Music from the National Conservatory of Athens. She is also a member of the Greek- Turkish NGO Defne.

Anastasia Koutri – Anastasia holds a MA degree in Political, Economical and International Relations from the Mediterranean University of the Aegean (Rhodes) and a BSc in Political Science and Public Administration from the University of Athens. She has been an Erasmus exchange student at Rheinische Friedrich Wilhelms Universitaet Bonn, Fakultaet Politikwissenschaft. Anastasia has also completed internships at the International Center for Black Sea Studies and at the Diplomatic and Historical Archives of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where she was involved in the research and organization of the archives (1926-1934 period) of the Greek embassy in Ankara.

Evangelia Lantza – Evangelia holds a BSc in Turkish language and culture from the Democritus University of Thrace. She has also completed several internships, including at the Ecumenical Patriarchate and at the Hellenic Commission of UNESCO of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Eugenia Logiotatou – Eugenia holds a BSc in Turkish language and culture from the Democritus University of Thrace. She has completed an internship at the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) organization and has participated in the 2004 and 2005 Model United Nations organized by the University of Macedonia.

The Master of Arts program in International Relations with a concentration on Greek-Turkish relations of the European Institute of Istanbul Bilgi University is the only one of its kind internationally and boasts a 50%-50% ratio of Greek to Turkish students. The Division of Turkish-Greek Studies at Bilgi Universtiy also boasts close cooperation with international education institutions, such as the Hellenic Observatory at the London School of Economics and Political Science; The Greek-Turkish Network at St. Anthony’s College, Oxford; and the Department of Turkish Studies and Middle Eastern Studies of the University of Cyprus.
