The Kokkalis Foundation was the proud sponsor of the international workshop entitled “Social Capital and Transition to Democracy in SE Europe and the Balkans.” Held on May 25th, 2007 at the University of Macedonia, the workshop was organized by the Department of Balkan, Slavic and Eastern Studies of the University of Macedonia and gathered Greek as well as international researchers of repute, including Professor Bo Rothstein from the University of Gothenburg-Sweden, Dr. Socrates Koniordos from the University of Crete, Prof. Eric Uslaner from the University of Maryland-USA, Professor Panos Kazakos from the University of Athens, Dr. Dimitris Sotiropoulos from the University of Athens and Dr. Christos Paraskevopoulos from the University of Macedonia.
