Kosta Barjaba is a native of Saranda, Albania. He earned a BA in Political Science in 1984, a PhD in Sociology in 1989 and a Law degree in 2000 from the University of Tirana. In 1999, Barjaba was appointed to a professorship from the University of Shkodra. In June 2005, he received a Mid-Career Master’s in Public Administration from the Kennedy School.
Since graduating from Harvard, Barjaba worked as adviser to the Minister of Finance, as the president of the University of Durres in Albania, and as chief of staff to the Minister of Labor. With local Harvard alumni, Barjaba founded the Harvard Club of Albania in September 2005.
Currently, Kosta is Dean of the School of Political Sciences of the newly founded Mediterranean University of Albania (MUA). He also serves as an instructor at MUA in sociology and strategic management.
